For those Jeep enthusiasts who want to off-road to a drag race or vice versa, there's the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with 470 hp and enough torque to hit 60 mph in under five seconds. For those even more ardent and wealthy Jeepsters, Hennessey Performance will build 24 of these: the HPE800 Twin Turbo Jeep. Guess what the 800 stands for?
Starting at just $235,000, Texas-based Hennessey says the HPE800 starts with a factory-spec SRT8 that has its engine bored to 7 liters and a twin-turbo system bolted on. With 803 horses under the hood, the Twin Turbo will hit 60 mph in 3.1 seconds -- a tenth of a second slower than a Ferrari 458 Italia.
That power isn't just dumped to the ground, but routed through an upgraded suspension, transmission and four-wheel-drive system. Founder John Hennessey says the Twin Turbo was built "for the performance minded driver who lives in Aspen or Moscow and wants to be the fastest in all weather conditions." There's only one sleigh we can imagine would be any faster.
